About us

Ziller Holding unites over 25 companies that are active in the fields of industrial services, mechanical engineering, rolling bearing seals, pipe flange seals and technical elastomers. The roots of Ziller Holding go back to 1926. Back then, Hans J. Ziller joined the engineering firm Paul Wever, laying the foundations for today's company. This development initially gave rise to NILOS - today an important part of the diverse group of companies. The name NILOS, made up of the words "nie" and "los", is symbolic of the durability and longevity that have always characterized the company.

1934

In 1934, Ziller developed and patented a mechanically releasable hook connection, for which he introduced the brand name NILOS (derived from "never loose"). The following year saw the worldwide distribution of NILOS conveyor belt equipment, which quickly established itself as a major innovation in the mining industry. The company set up its own production facility in Sheffield, England, but lost it again during the Second World War. After the end of the war, Ziller founded the company "Hans Ziller Stahlbau" in Chemnitz and dynamically continued the development of conveyor belts and their repair. A significant innovation was the introduction of stationary conveyor belt repair.

1965

In 1965, Hans J. Ziller received several awards for his outstanding achievements. The Technical University of Aachen awarded him an honorary doctorate, and he received the Diesel Medal in Gold and the Federal Cross of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany. This year also saw the development of the NILOS-RING, an all-metal seal for ball and roller bearings, which established itself worldwide as a reliable solution in mechanical engineering.

1967

In 1967, the Paul Wever company was transformed into HANS ZILLER Kommanditgesellschaft. A new management team of long-standing employees led the company to new products and markets under the motto of diversification. The sales strategy was adapted and from then on NILOS also presented itself internationally at trade fairs.

1970

In the 1970s, NILOS continued to expand and supplied markets worldwide. NILOS equipment was increasingly used for large-scale mining of lignite and hard coal in particular. At the same time, environmental protection became an important issue and NILOS developed rubber wear protection products to reduce noise and wear.

1985

In 1985, Hans J. Ziller died after a short illness at the age of 78. His three sons and his daughter took over the management of the company. Three years later, in 1988, the company was concentrated in Hilden on Reisholzstrasse, where a new administration, development, production and research center was built and occupied. With this reorganization, the company faced the challenges of the future and continued its successful history.

Tradition with a future

"Never" and "go": these words make up our brand name, which stands for the durability of our company. The history of NILOS goes back to 1926, a time when the mining industry was taking its first steps towards the use of conveyor belts. Today, NILOS is a globally active company with numerous business divisions.
